I have 4 of these in my home and I love them. The shelves are adjustable and the unit is easy to assemble. The instructions are pictures only and the pictures so closely match the subtle differences in each piece, the only way you will mess up assembly is if you try to do it without referring to the schematic. Using the proper tools and not over-tightening the screws, the shelves should theoretically last forever as long as you are only loading books & not bricks in the shelves. I accent my shelves with knick-knacks along with the books. The simple style is beautiful without being boring and the color is rich. If you can’t afford custom and/or raw furniture, this is the next best thing – and it doesn’t look like cheesy laminate stuff like those O’Sullivan kits.

I bought 2 of these for my family daycare. They were quick to put together – although I didn’t follow the directions for the second one. First, I would highly suggest using a drill. It would’ve taken much longer to put it together has I used a screwdriver. The display comes with 4 pieces – 2 sides, 1 bottom and the inner wooden dowels with canvas for the books. The directions tell you to screw the woden dowels into the sides first, and then screw in the bottom piece. I found it much each easier to screw the bottom piece to the 2 sides first – the wooden dowels stayed in place much better while screwing them into place because the structure of the display was already there. Other than that – one minor flaw – one of the dowels cracked as I was screwing it into place. I don’t know whether this was my fault or a product defect, but it happened. It didn’t affect the display, but time will tell whether this one wooden dowel holds up as well as the others.
Aside from putting it together, this is the cutest thing ever! The sides are actually carved out, they aren’t just a picture. The display holds a decent amount of books too! And, the kids love to see the fronts of the books – they’re much more likely to pull out the books if they can see the pictures!

I am ordering our second bookshelf now! Great system that my two two-year olds actually use – no more books all over the floor. Better quality than I expected, although I don’t think it will withstand one (or both) of them climbing up it. Holds a decent amount of books so I am ordering a second one for the bedroom. Only drawback, it does not work for small books since the books can not be seen. However, I’m just so thrilled that the piles and piles of big books are no longer on the floor since the conventional bookcase was just an invitation to pull everything off. Also, Little Wonders is a terrific vendor — quick shipping and the product arrived in great shape.

This book display is much more a piece of furniture than a toy, and I was concerned that it might not seem a very ‘fun’ gift for a 7-year-old girl. But I combined the bookshelf with a “Hooked on Phonics” 30-book learning system, and my granddaughter has been having a ball playing ‘school’ with it. If you want to foster a love of books in a child, I suggest that you combine this gift with a set of age-appropriate books or a bunch of children’s magazine subscriptions, and you’ll have a winning gift! It is fairly easy to assemble. (I wasn’t sure what Rubberwood was when I ordered it, but it is a smooth heavy durable wood.)

Made in Vietnam, these folding bookcases are the best buy for the lowest price out there! I should know, I have 53 folding bookcases in my library from a variety of sources… all different woods, mechanisms for stacking, etc. These are sturdy, well-constructed, and operate smoothly. Only one minor drawback: they aren’t considered “stackable.” Very easy to get around this. Simply screw a flat bracket to the inside joint of the 2 bookcases. The result is solid and good-looking. These bookcases are paintable.
